Travel area: within N minutes or N km by road
The area people can really reach from each store or site, by car, on foot or by bike.
Travel area draws the area that can be reached from each place: within a travel time (for example 15 minutes by car) or a distance along the roads (10 km by road), by car, on foot or by bike. It follows the roads, so the shape reaches further along main roads than across a park or a river.
- Within: a travel time, or a distance by road.
- By: Car, Walking or Cycling.
- Around: each place that reaches it (your stores from My data, a webhook’s sites), or places you pick.
The blocks after it (Nearby places, Demographics, Traffic incidents, Map business scan) search inside these areas as they would an Area of interest; set their Where to Automatic or Area of interest. Each place found carries the name of its area, such as 15 minutes by car of Camden store.
Up to 15 minutes and 10 km by road for now; longer ranges come with a bigger plan at xMap’s routing provider. An area drawn once is kept for 30 days and costs nothing again. When the routing service cannot draw an area, the block uses a circle at a typical speed: it is free, and the step and every email say it is an estimate, not a real travel time.
