Check companies, people and ships against sanctions lists

OpenSanctions’ lists on each item: a possible match, its score, the lists and a link. A match is not proof.

Sanctions and watchlists checks each company, person or ship that reaches it against sanctions lists and watchlists from OpenSanctions (the UN, the EU, the US, the UK and over 300 more official lists).

  • Check: Automatic (a ship by its IMO number and MMSI, a person by a contact’s name, else a company), or pick one.
  • Lists: sanctions only; sanctions and watchlists (debarment, wanted, export control); or also politically exposed people.
  • Match: how close a name must be, from close matches only (0.85) to loose (0.5).
  • Pass on: every item with the check, or only possible matches, or only items with no match; the step says how many were left out.

Each item gets sanctions_match (Yes, No or Not checked), sanctions_score, sanctions_best, sanctions_lists, sanctions_link and the day it was checked. Put a Filter on Sanctions match score after it, and an Approval so a person reviews each possible match.

A match is not proof: a person decides. Names are shared; look at the record before acting. Each name checked is a paid query, so the block costs more than most; the same names again the same day are free. Only the name, a country and ship numbers are sent to OpenSanctions.
