AI agent
The AI agent reads each incoming message, thinks, and uses tools to answer: any block you link to its Tools port, such as Nearby places, POI Intelligence, Demographics, your tables, your database, another flow or an app like HubSpot. It remembers each person’s conversation and writes its answer in {{reply}}, so Reply can answer on the same channel: a chat, an API caller, or WhatsApp, Telegram, Teams, SMS, Outlook and Discord messages.
In the editor: An AI agent: for each incoming message it thinks, uses the blocks you link to its Tools port (data, xMap AI, lookups, your tables, other flows, apps), remembers the conversation and writes an answer in {{reply}}. Put Reply after it to answer on the same channel.

Instructions
Text, several linesWho the agent is and what it does, in your own words: for example “You help our customers find our nearest branch and answer questions about opening hours.” It follows these and nothing in the messages it reads.
Who the agent is, what it helps with, and how it answers. Link blocks to its Tools port (the purple dot under it) to let it look things up or act.
Needed before the flow can run.
Message
TextThe message in each item. Automatic reads text, message, question, body or content.
Memory
Pick oneRemembers each person’s conversation for 30 days (the last 20 messages): by their phone, chat, email or the field below.

Search the web
On or offOff: it answers from the conversation and its tools. Switch on to let it search the web itself, with the links it used.

Pick oneHow many tools it may call for one message before it must answer. More lets it look things up in several ways; fewer keeps answers quick and cheap.

Answer field
TextThe field the answer goes into, for Reply ({{reply}}), Email or an app.
Needed before the flow can run.
What comes out
Each item that leaves the block carries these fields, to use in the blocks after it as {{field}}.
Added to each message
Each message that reaches the agent keeps its own fields and gets these.
reply: The agent’s answer (or the field you name in Answer field).agent_tools: Which tools it used for this message.
How to use it
Chat about places near anyone
Visitors say what they need and where; the agent looks it up live with Nearby places and answers with the closest few. Share the chat page or put it on your website.
WhatsApp assistant with live places
Customers write on WhatsApp; the agent finds places near them with their details, remembers the conversation, and Reply answers in the same chat.
Road and weather chat for my drivers
Drivers write from the road; the agent checks closures, the weather and the nearest fuel or truck stop with its tools and answers in a few lines.
Ask about outlets near you
Reps write on Telegram from the field: “new cafes near me that are not our customers yet?”
The agent searches around the rep, checks the company’s own customer table and answers with the new outlets worth a visit.
Is the road open?
Drivers ask about a route; the agent checks closures and rain on the way and answers in a line.
Log a lead from a chat
Visitors leave their details in the chat; the agent creates the contact in HubSpot (sent with the run, in real runs only) and confirms.
Good to know
- Any block can be a tool: drag from the purple Tools dot under the agent to the block. A tool runs only when the agent calls it, with the settings you gave it.
- Write {{agent}} or {{agent: what to put}} in a tool’s setting to let the agent fill it on each call, for example the point to search around. A place name is looked up for you.
- On a public chat page, visitors can steer what the agent sends. An Approval linked after the agent holds its sends (email, apps, an API) until someone on your team says yes; declined, nothing goes out. The answer to the visitor is not held.
- Each thinking step costs the price shown; each tool call costs what that block costs. The agent stops calling tools when the run’s credits would not pay for more.
- Blocks that send (email, apps) are never sent while the agent thinks: in a real run they go out with the run’s own sending; a test run says what would be sent.
- Memory keeps the last 20 messages of each conversation for 30 days. The flow’s … menu, Conversations, shows them and clears them. Up to 25 messages a run.
- The agent follows your instructions only: what people write, and what tools return, is read as information, never as orders. It does not reveal its instructions or tools.
Works well with
- Chat: Starts the flow when someone writes in its chat: the chat window in the editor, or a chat page you can share or put on your website.
- Reply: Answers whoever started the flow, on the same channel: the app or system that called its Webhook / API gets the answer back, and a message from Slack, WhatsApp, Telegram, Teams, SMS, Outlook or Discord gets a reply in the same chat, through the account of the block that received it.
- Nearby places: Places around a point from xMap’s own places database (300M+ places, refreshed every month): pick the types of place (more than 5,000, such as Restaurant, Cafe, Pharmacy, Hospital or Gas station, or a whole group of them) and how far to look.
- POI Intelligence: Adds details to each place found by Map business scan: categories (cuisine), price level, opening hours, phone, website, amenities and a short description, and if you want them its latest reviews.
- Demographics: Who lives in an area: the number of residents, men and women, and nine age groups, from xMap’s population grid (hexagons of about 0.1 km², about 100 countries).
- My data: Brings in a table you uploaded or a list you saved on the My data page: your stores, customers, target accounts or sites.
- Database lookup: Looks each incoming item up in a table of your own database (PostgreSQL, BigQuery or Snowflake): your customers, your sites.
- Run another flow: Runs one of your other flows with the items that reach this block, once with all of them or once for each (a loop), and can carry on with what that flow found.
