The right hospital at three in the morning
Dao sells health insurance to expats and digital nomads in Chiang Mai.
Listen to the story:
The challenge
Her clients message her at all hours: I have a fever, which hospital takes my cover? She answers from bed at two in the morning, half asleep. Some go to the wrong hospital and pay up front. Then they blame the policy, and her.
How the flow works
With xMap Flows, Dao built Otter. Otter is an AI employee: a flow of 5 blocks.
When a client writes in her chat,
Her clients write (Chat)
Otter reads what they need,
Knows every policy (AI agent)
checks their policy in the policy list,
Their policy (My data)
finds the nearest hospitals that take it,
Hospitals near them (Nearby places)
and answers in seconds, with the address.
Answers in seconds (Reply)
What it solves
- Messages at 2 a.m.: solved by AI agent and Reply
- Wrong hospital, paid: solved by My data and Nearby places
- Clients blame her: solved by Reply
The result
Last night, a client woke with a high fever at three. Within twenty seconds he had two covered hospitals eight minutes away, and he went in without paying a baht. Dao read about it at breakfast, after a full night of sleep.
Dao's clients get an answer at three in the morning. Dao gets her sleep.
An illustrative scenario: the figures are modelled to show what the flow produces, not a customer's results.
The flow, block by block
- 1
Her clients write
Starts the flow when someone writes in its chat: the chat window in the editor, or a chat page you can share or put on your website.
- 2
Knows every policy
An AI agent: for each incoming message it thinks, uses the blocks you link to its Tools port (data, xMap AI, lookups, your tables, other flows, apps), remembers the conversation and writes an answer in {{reply}}.
- 3
Their policy
Brings in a table you uploaded or a list you saved on the My data page: your stores, customers, target accounts or sites.
- 4
Hospitals near them
Places around a point from xMap’s own places database (300M+ places, refreshed every month): pick the types of place (more than 5,000, such as Restaurant, Cafe, Pharmacy, Hospital or Gas station, or a whole group of them) and how far to look.
- 5
Answers in seconds
Answers whoever started the flow, on the same channel: the app or system that called its Webhook / API gets the answer back, and a message from Slack, WhatsApp, Telegram, Teams, SMS, Outlook or Discord gets a reply in the same chat, through the account of the block that received it.
