Why non-profits & humanitarian teams use xMap Flows

Charities and humanitarian teams must decide where limited help goes. xMap Flows maps needs against services: residents by age, clinics, food banks, water points and shelters. Weather forecasts give early warning of heat, storms and floods for camps and communities. Flows find corporate donors and volunteers, coordinate supplies around road closures and produce public impact maps that donors can open.

Help placed by habit

Rank areas where needs are high and services are few.

Warnings arrive late

Heat, storm and flood alerts for camps and communities, days ahead.

Donors want proof

Public impact maps and reports, updated by the flow.

Supplies stuck on closed roads

Road incidents along supply routes, flagged before trucks leave.

NGOs, charities, aid agencies and community groups who need to reach people in need, find partners and report their impact.

How a flow works for non-profits & humanitarian

Every flow reads left to right: something starts it (a schedule, a message, an app event or new rows), it looks at an area, gathers data, lets xMap AI make sense of it, applies your rules, and sends the result where your team works. These are the blocks non-profits & humanitarian templates use most.

  1. 1

    Where

Choose the area: countries, cities, a radius around your own sites, or shapes you draw.

Area of interest · Find nearest

  2. 2

    Data

Bring in what is there and what is changing.

Nearby places · Demographics · Job postings · Map business scan · Weather forecast

  3. 3

    AI and your rules

Score, rank, keep only what is new or fits, and match with your own data.

xMap LLM · Place classifier · AI agent · Sort and limit · Calculated field

  4. 4

    Where results go

Send each result where your team works.

Email · Show on a map · Reply · Make a report · Google Sheets

Cool rooms open where Paris’s elders live

The challenge. Camille leads the summer heatwave plan for the city of Paris. Each heatwave, the city opens cool rooms in town halls and libraries. Deciding which ones took two days of calls, so they opened after the heat had already arrived. And some opened where few older people live.

The flow. With xMap Flows, Camille built Canopy. Every summer morning at six, for each of eighty cool rooms, Canopy reads the next three days’ forecast, keeps the ones where heat is coming, counts the older people living around each, picks the twenty that matter most, writes each opening notice, and sends it to the district halls.

The result. In July, Canopy saw thirty six degrees coming three days ahead. It picked the twenty rooms with the most people over sixty around them, and the district halls had the notices by eight that morning. Every room was open before the first hot afternoon. Camille stopped racing the heat. Now the cool rooms open first.

A reading tutor down the street, for every new child

The challenge. Maya is the only coordinator at a small reading charity in Atlanta. She pairs children with volunteer tutors. New families sign up on a form, and she matches each one by hand with a map and a spreadsheet. It takes her a week. By then, some families have stopped answering, and a few volunteers quit, never matched at all.

The flow. With xMap Flows, Maya built Harbor. When a new family signs up, Harbor finds the nearest free volunteer, writes them a warm introduction, sends it to both, waits three days, and checks that the first lesson happened.

The result. A grandmother in Decatur signed up at nine on Tuesday. By ten she had an email from a retired teacher four minutes away. Every new family now hears the same day, and seventy children started reading this autumn. Maya used to match children with tutors. Now she gets to watch them read.

Guides and decks

Questions

How can a charity use xMap Flows?

To find areas with high need and few services, to warn communities before extreme weather, to find donors and volunteers, and to share impact maps.

Can it work offline or in low-data regions?

Flows run in the cloud; results can go by SMS or WhatsApp to teams in the field. Data coverage differs by country.

Can we share results publicly?

Yes. Maps, lists and dashboards can have public links and can be embedded on your website.

Which data is live?

Live: xMap's places database (300M+ places of more than 5,000 kinds), live business listings from online maps, job postings, road incidents, ships (AIS), satellite pictures, weather forecasts, news from the feeds and pages you choose, travel-time areas and routes on the road network, and residents by age (Demographics, in about 100 countries), live road speeds and congestion (Traffic Flow; it does not count cars), footfall around each place (Mobility Footfall, in most of the world, about 10 days behind), plus regional datasets where xMap offers them, such as cars counted on the roads of the United Arab Emirates (Road traffic history). Catchment returns sample figures for now, and every result made from it says so.

Do I need to write code?

No. A flow is built from blocks on a canvas, from a ready-made template, or by describing it to Ask xMap in a sentence; Ask xMap builds it, tests it and fixes what fails. Developers can also use the API and the MCP server.

How fast can a non-profits & humanitarian team start?

Hire one of the AI employees above: answer two questions (the city and the kind of place), or write one sentence to make it yours ("for dental clinics in Lyon, to WhatsApp every Monday"), and it runs in your own account with results you can see. A new account can also type its website and meet three AI employees already tried in its city. Or try the home page first: no account needed.

Can an agency or consultancy offer this to its clients?

Yes. Your logo and colour on the app, emails and reports, emails from your own domain, the app on your own address, and a read-only page for each client with its results, map and weekly report. See the Partners page.
