Closing the gaps in the care network
Megan runs provider contracts at a health insurer in New York. Members keep writing: there is no urgent care near me in your network.
Listen to the story:
The challenge
She knows the gaps exist, but not where. Every quarter, an analyst spends a month comparing lists of clinics by hand. By the time the report is ready, new centres have opened, and other insurers have signed them.
How the flow works
With xMap Flows, Megan built Cartographer. Cartographer is an AI employee: a flow of 7 blocks.
On the first Monday of each month,
First Monday each month (Schedule)
across the five boroughs,
The five boroughs (Area of interest)
Cartographer finds every urgent care centre,
Urgent care centres (Nearby places)
skips the ones already in the network,
Not in the network yet (Match with my table)
keeps those rated four stars or more,
Rated 4 or more (Filter)
scores how much each one is worth signing,
Worth signing? (Jev decision)
and hands the contracting team a report with a map.
Report for contracting (Make a report)
What it solves
- A month per report: solved by Schedule and Make a report
- Gaps nobody can see: solved by Nearby places and Match with my table
- Others sign them first: solved by Filter and Jev decision
The result
Last month's report found thirty-eight well-rated centres outside the network, nineteen of them in Queens and the Bronx, where complaints were highest. Her team signed eleven in six weeks, and complaints about access fell by half.
Megan stopped counting clinics. Now she closes the gaps.
An illustrative scenario: the figures are modelled to show what the flow produces, not a customer's results.

The five boroughs
Sets where the flow looks: countries, cities or specific places, or areas you draw on a map.
- 3
Urgent care centres
Places around a point from xMap’s own places database (300M+ places, refreshed every month): pick the types of place (more than 5,000, such as Restaurant, Cafe, Pharmacy, Hospital or Gas station, or a whole group of them) and how far to look.
- 4
Not in the network yet
Looks each incoming item up in one of your tables or saved lists (My data), for example your customers.
- 5
- 6
Worth signing?
Asks TypeSafe’s Jev model one typed question about each place: yes or no, pick one of your options, or a score on your levels.

Report for contracting
Turns the items that reach it into a clean PDF report with your logo and colour: the summary an xMap LLM block wrote for the whole list, the figures, charts of kinds and cities, a map and the list.
