Hearing about a rival’s pay rise the week it happens
Yuki is the HR manager at one of Kyoto’s largest hotel groups. She has six hundred staff across nine hotels.
Listen to the story:
The challenge
Housekeepers leave for a few hundred yen more an hour, and she finds out at the exit interview. Rival hotels change their pay quietly, on their own careers pages. By the time HR reviews pay each spring, twenty people have gone.
How the flow works
With xMap Flows, Yuki built Prism. Prism is an AI employee: a flow of 6 blocks.
Every Monday at eight,
Mondays at 8 (Schedule)
Prism reads every hotel job posted in Kyoto,
Hotel jobs in Kyoto (Job postings)
watches eight rivals’ careers pages for new roles,
Rivals’ careers pages (Web page watch)
compares the pay offered with her own,
Their pay against ours (xMap LLM)
keeps the roles where rivals pay more,
Rivals paying more (Filter)
and tells the hotel managers.
To the hotel managers (Slack)
What it solves
- Pay changes unseen: solved by Job postings and Web page watch
- Found out at exit: solved by xMap LLM and Filter
- Twenty staff lost a year: solved by Slack
The result
This Monday, Prism finds three rivals raising housekeeping pay near Kyoto Station, by up to two hundred yen an hour. Yuki matches it at two hotels the same week. This season only four housekeepers leave, down from twenty.
Yuki used to learn about pay at exit interviews. Now she learns it on Monday.
An illustrative scenario: the figures are modelled to show what the flow produces, not a customer's results.
