Split by territory

Split by territory shares the items that reach it out between your reps by area: compact territories of about the same size, so every rep gets a fair share of places close together. Each item gets owner (the rep) and territory (North, South-east, Centre...).

In the editor: Shares the items out between your reps by area: compact territories of about the same size, so every rep gets a fair share close together. Each item gets owner (the rep) and territory (North, South-east...). Name your reps, or just say how many.

Reps

A list you type

Up to 20 people, by name or email.

2 to 20 people. Each item gets its rep’s name in owner.

What comes out

Each item that leaves the block carries these fields, to use in the blocks after it as {{field}}.

For each item

Every item that reaches it. Items keep all their own fields and get these.

  • owner: The rep: a name or email you typed, or Rep 1, Rep 2...
  • territory: The territory’s name, by its direction from the middle of all the items: North, South-east, Centre... The same direction twice is numbered.
  • territory_size: How many items the rep got in this run.

How to use it

FMCG distribution

New shops for three reps, each with a route

A beverage distributor in Toronto finds new shops every morning and wants each of its three reps to get their own patch, in order.

Route planner set to One route for each rep reads owner, so every rep gets their own route in their own territory.

Banking and payments

New businesses for each relationship manager

A bank in Sao Paulo wants each relationship manager to see the new businesses in their part of the city, without a weekly spreadsheet.

Before: A coordinator split the list by hand every Monday.

With the flow: The Monday email lists the new businesses with each one’s manager and territory.

Retail

Store openings for area managers

The Slack message names {{owner}} and {{territory}}, so each manager sees their own part.

Field service

Today’s jobs between technicians

An installer in Melbourne gets the day’s jobs by webhook and shares them fairly between five technicians by area.

Telecom

Shops to sign as resellers, by region

Healthcare

Clinics for each medical rep

A medical devices company in Mumbai shares newly found clinics between its reps every week.

Before: Reps argued over who got the busiest neighbourhoods.

With the flow: Every rep gets a compact patch of about the same size.

Good to know

  • Territories are made from where this run’s items are, so they can shift a little from run to run as new places come in. For fixed patches, keep each rep’s area in a table and use Match with my table.
  • Every territory holds at most its share: with 25 items and 3 reps, no rep gets more than 9.
  • Items without a position go to the rep with the fewest, as territory No position.
  • It is free: the sharing out is done in the flow itself.

Works well with

  • Route planner: Puts the places that reach it in the best order to visit them in a day, from a start you pick: one route, one for each rep (by a field such as owner), or shared out between a number of reps.
  • Nearby places: Places around a point from xMap’s own places database (300M+ places, refreshed every month): pick the types of place (more than 5,000, such as Restaurant, Cafe, Pharmacy, Hospital or Gas station, or a whole group of them) and how far to look.
  • Only new: Lets through only the items this flow has not found before, so a daily flow sends only what is new.
  • Email: Sends one email per run with all the items, or one email per item.
  • Slack: Channel-based messaging platform
  • Google Sheets: Create, edit, and collaborate on spreadsheets online
  • Filter: Keeps only the items that match a rule.
