A fourth shop chosen without walking a street
Karan owns three travel agency shops in Mumbai. Families come in to plan their holidays and weddings abroad.
Listen to the story:
The challenge
He wants a fourth shop, and every landlord says theirs is perfect. Karan has spent four Sundays walking the suburbs. One lease in Andheri looked busy, but the street was full of office workers, not families, and three rival agents shared the lane.
How the flow works
With xMap Flows, Karan built Scribe. Scribe is an AI employee: a flow of 6 blocks.
When Karan adds a shop he was offered,
A shop he is offered (New rows)
Scribe counts the children and adults living within two kilometres,
People within 2 km (Demographics)
counts the rival travel agents nearby,
Rival travel agents (Nearby places)
works out the families for each rival,
Families per rival (Calculated field)
says if the shop is worth a visit,
Worth a visit? (xMap LLM)
and sends him the answer on WhatsApp.

What it solves
- Four Sundays walking: solved by New rows and xMap LLM and WhatsApp Business
- Offices, not families: solved by Demographics
- Rivals on the lane: solved by Nearby places and Calculated field
The result
This week, Karan adds seven shops. Scribe rules out five within a minute each. The one in Borivali has ninety thousand children within two kilometres and only one rival. He signs the lease on Saturday, without walking a single street.
Karan stopped walking the suburbs. Now the suburbs report to him.
An illustrative scenario: the figures are modelled to show what the flow produces, not a customer's results.
The flow, block by block
- 1
A shop he is offered
Starts the flow when new rows appear in a Google Sheet or in a table in My data.
- 2
People within 2 km
Who lives in an area: the number of residents, men and women, and nine age groups, from xMap’s population grid (hexagons of about 0.1 km², about 100 countries).
- 3
Rival travel agents
Places around a point from xMap’s own places database (300M+ places, refreshed every month): pick the types of place (more than 5,000, such as Restaurant, Cafe, Pharmacy, Hospital or Gas station, or a whole group of them) and how far to look.
- 4
Families per rival
Adds fields worked out from the others: a number, a text or a yes/no.
