No shift late, whatever the roads do at dawn
Fahad runs the ground team of a big airline at the airport in Kuwait City. Two hundred people start work before dawn.
Listen to the story:
The challenge
Crew buses pick them up across the city from half past three. When a road is closed, a bus runs late, and a whole shift starts late. Last winter, eleven flights left behind time because the baggage team was still on the road.
How the flow works
With xMap Flows, Fahad built Beacon. Beacon is an AI employee: a flow of 7 blocks.
Every night at three,
Every night at 3 am (Schedule)
Beacon takes the crew bus stops,
Crew bus stops (My data)
checks for closures near each one,
Closures near each stop (Traffic incidents)
measures how the roads are moving,
Speeds on the way (Traffic Flow)
asks if a bus will run late,
Bus running late? (Branch)
sends those crews an earlier pickup on WhatsApp,
An earlier pickup (WhatsApp Business)
and marks the change on the shift rota.
Note it on the rota (Microsoft Excel 365)
What it solves
- Closed roads at dawn: solved by Traffic incidents and Traffic Flow
- Late bus, late shift: solved by Branch and WhatsApp Business
- Flights held back: solved by WhatsApp Business and Microsoft Excel 365
The result
On Tuesday, roadworks close a ramp near Salmiya. Beacon moves that bus fifteen minutes earlier and tells its twenty-two passengers. Every shift starts on time, and so does every morning flight.
Fahad’s crews still leave before dawn. Now the road news leaves before them.
An illustrative scenario: the figures are modelled to show what the flow produces, not a customer's results.
