Full shelves before the heatwave
Hassan owns a pharmacy in Gueliz, the new town of Marrakesh.
Listen to the story:
The challenge
When a heatwave hits, everyone wants the same things at once: rehydration salts, sun cream, cooling gel. His wholesaler needs three days. Last July he ran out on day two of forty-five degrees, and sent forty customers across the street.
How the flow works
With xMap Flows, Hassan built Steward. Steward is an AI employee: a flow of 6 blocks.
Every evening at nine,
Every evening at 9 (Schedule)
Steward reads the week's forecast for Marrakesh,
The week ahead (Weather forecast)
looks for days above forty-two degrees,
Days over 42 degrees (Filter)
checks his stock list for what is running low,
What is on the shelf (Match with my table)
works out how much he will need,
How much to order (Calculated field)
and emails the order to his wholesaler.
Order to the wholesaler (Gmail)
What it solves
- Wholesaler needs 3 days: solved by Schedule and Weather forecast and Filter
- Shelves empty on day 2: solved by Match with my table and Calculated field
- Customers go next door: solved by Gmail
The result
On Sunday night, Steward saw forty-four degrees coming on Thursday. The order went out four days early: six hundred sachets of rehydration salts, two hundred tubes of sun cream. When the heat came, his shelves were full and the queue was at his door.
Hassan no longer reacts to the heat. He is ready for it.
An illustrative scenario: the figures are modelled to show what the flow produces, not a customer's results.
