Every dialysis patient in the chair on time
Ingrid plans patient transport at a big hospital in Oslo. Every morning, her vans collect sixty patients for dialysis.
Listen to the story:
The challenge
Dialysis cannot wait. But when a road closes, the driver finds out at the barrier. The van turns back, the patient waits in the cold, and the whole shift starts late. Ingrid spends her mornings on the phone, rerouting by hand.
How the flow works
With xMap Flows, Ingrid built Fox. Fox is an AI employee: a flow of 6 blocks.
Every morning at half past five,
Every morning at 5:30 (Schedule)
Fox takes the day's sixty pickups,
Today's pickups (My data)
checks for road closures and roadworks near each one,
Closures near each pickup (Traffic incidents)
and where a road is closed,
A closure in the way? (Branch)
works out how much earlier the van must leave,
Leave earlier (Calculated field)
and tells the driver before the engine starts.
Heads-up to the driver (Slack)
What it solves
- Closures at the barrier: solved by Traffic incidents and Branch
- Patients in the cold: solved by Calculated field
- Mornings on the phone: solved by Schedule and Slack
The result
Yesterday, Fox found four closures on the morning rounds, two of them roadworks in Grünerløkka. Those drivers left fifteen minutes early, and every patient was in the chair on time. Ingrid drank her coffee while it was still hot.
The roads still close in Oslo. Ingrid's patients just never find out.
An illustrative scenario: the figures are modelled to show what the flow produces, not a customer's results.
