The forty clinics that need a visit
Amani is a medical rep for a pharmaceutical company, covering four hundred clinics and pharmacies across Nairobi.
Listen to the story:
The challenge
She can see eight a day. So which eight? She goes back to the doctors she knows, and some clinics have not seen her since March. Meanwhile the busiest clinics in Kilimani have never heard her name.
How the flow works
With xMap Flows, Amani built Badger. Badger is an AI employee: a flow of 8 blocks.
Every Sunday evening,
Every Sunday evening (Schedule)
Badger looks at every clinic and pharmacy in her area,
Clinics and pharmacies (Nearby places)
matches them with her visit log,
Her visit log (Match with my table)
counts the weeks since she was last there,
Weeks since her last visit (Calculated field)
asks Jev how much each one needs a visit,
Who needs a visit? (Jev decision)
keeps the top forty,
Forty for the week (Sort and limit)
plans the shortest drive,
The shortest drive (Route planner)
and puts the week in her calendar.
Her week, booked (Google Calendar)
What it solves
- 400 clinics, 8 a day: solved by Jev decision and Sort and limit
- Some unseen since March: solved by Match with my table and Calculated field
- Busiest ones missed: solved by Nearby places and Jev decision
The result
This week, Badger gave her forty visits. Twelve are busy clinics she had not seen since spring, and three are big pharmacies she had never walked into. Her driving fell by a third, and within two months her orders in Westlands doubled.
Amani used to visit the clinics she remembered. Now she visits the ones that need her.
An illustrative scenario: the figures are modelled to show what the flow produces, not a customer's results.

Clinics and pharmacies
Places around a point from xMap’s own places database (300M+ places, refreshed every month): pick the types of place (more than 5,000, such as Restaurant, Cafe, Pharmacy, Hospital or Gas station, or a whole group of them) and how far to look.
- 3
Her visit log
Looks each incoming item up in one of your tables or saved lists (My data), for example your customers.
- 4
Weeks since her last visit
Adds fields worked out from the others: a number, a text or a yes/no.
- 5
Who needs a visit?
Asks TypeSafe’s Jev model one typed question about each place: yes or no, pick one of your options, or a score on your levels.
- 6
Forty for the week
Puts the items in order, and can keep only the first ones: the 10 best rated, the 20 nearest, the highest fit scores.
- 7
The shortest drive
Puts the places that reach it in the best order to visit them in a day, from a start you pick: one route, one for each rep (by a field such as owner), or shared out between a number of reps.
