Mobility Footfall: the right hours, and the days that have arrived
- Mobility Footfall now counts the hours in each place’s own local time. Before, the busiest hour could be off by the place’s time difference from UTC (Times Square looked busiest at 23:00), and Weekends in the Gulf were counted as Saturday and Sunday instead of Friday and Saturday.
- Each day’s footfall arrives about 10 days later, so the time window now ends 10 days ago: Last 7 days is the latest 7 days of data, not days still on their way. When they are later than usual, the block uses the newest days there are instead of saying there is no data, and footfall_note says which days. Days before 17 October 2026, when the data starts, are no longer searched, so longer windows are quicker.
- A new field, footfall_timezone, names the time zone the hours are counted in, trip purposes read in plain words (Home to work, From work), and a place whose trips were too many to read all says the shares come from the first ones read.
